Ceramic abrasives are in the upper bracket in terms of price, but they offer an extraordinarily long service life. This material is made largely from zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) mixed with other components such as aluminium silicate (SiO2) and aluminium oxide (Al2O3), which are then formed into spherical beads using extreme heat and high pressure, a process called sintering. This media is at the costlier end of our materials due to its strength, consistency and durability. Ceramic beads have a much greater life cycle than Glass beads with the break down being approximately 1.2% for Ceramic as opposed to 10% with glass beads. The glass beads ha s a life cycle of approximately 9-12 cycles where as Ceramic media life cycle is 70-90 recoverable cycles. This is reflective in the price.
