Iron Silicate is an all purpose abrasive, it can be used on small DIY projects like car restoration or for large commercial projects such as boats, bridges. Iron Silicate can be used to remove pollution, rust and heavy paints.
grain size of 0.2 - 1.7mm
Penetration and removal of high build coatings on steel
JBlast Mineral Slag Abrasive was specially introduced in the 1960s to provide grit blasting contractors and industry with a safe alternative to sand as an expendable abrasive for use in portable air blast cleaning applications.
Ever since JBlast has been the industry standard for quality and reliability.
JBlast has the following properties:
JBlast has a high resistance to shatter compared with some other expendable abrasives. This ensures less breakdown of particles thereby enhancing cutting power and minimising the dust nuisance.
Between 6 and 7 Mohs, JBlast bites into rust, millscale and the toughest coatings.
The many faceted angular grains give JBlast a large number of cutting edges for rapid removal of old coatings, rust and millscale.
With a high specific gravity JBlast generates immense energy at the work surface giving fast cleaning rates.
In addition to its obvious qualities as an expendable abrasive for conventional dry blasting, one physical characteristic of JBlast is that it does not absorb water. It is therefore equally efficient when used with water and does not affect the choice of inhibitor. Thus the relevant grade can be used in applications such as selective removal of coatings and chemical residues from steel substrates
A selection of grades are available to embrace a wide range of applications ranging from the removal of heavy marine growth to the de-scaling of turbine blades.
JBlast is manufactured from processed mineral slags which have an assay of less than 0.1% free silica, meeting the requirements of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, Statutory Instruments Number 3246-1994.
In response to growing concern regarding chloride levels in abrasive we would reassure our customers that JBlast material is well within BS 7079 Part F for chloride contents and conductivity.
General steel fabrications, steel bridges, ship storage tanks and plant refurbishment. Provides ideal profile for most coatings.
A natural mineral abrasive ever popular as an expendable blast media offering a cleaner application than traditional expendables, with improved cutting performance, compatibility to non-ferrous metals and low tendency to embedment and recyclability up to 5 cycles.
The Edit Product is tested in accordance with ISO11126-10 and ISO11127-6&7 and is in compliance with Rolls Royce CSS211 specification.
In 80W, 80F and 120W formats the media is used extensively as a waterjet cutting media, as indicated above compliant to CSS211 and ISO11126-10 specification.
